The Seiko Lord Matic, the successor of Seiko’s famous Lord Marvel Line. Most watch geeks may heard about theLord Marvel 36000 fitted with the 5740C (36,000bph) movement in Lord Marvel and its special place in the JDM market as the firstpukka high beat watch.

Seiko issued the Lord Matic line hoping to continue the legacy of Lord Marvel. This is an extremely high expectation to a new line of watches, but thanks to the design genius in Seiko, they did it!

Seiko launched the Lord Matic line in 1968, fitting all Lord Matic models with asophisticated56 series movementand high-quality case design and finishing. The watch that used to be one notch below King Seiko line hastaken off in market demand. Seiko has used a much higher standard in the hi-beat movement used in Lord Matic Special watches, the 5206 movements built with a much higher standard of accuracy compare with the 56 series used in most Lord Matic watches. Seiko uplift the accuracy by increasing the beat rate of the watch from 21,600 bph to 28,800 bph making the Lord Matic Special a true Hi-beat watch.

This special new movement in Lord Matic Special has also formedthe basis for King Seiko Special which beat at the same rate but with a more fine-tune accuracy. So you can treat the Lord Matic Special as aKing Seiko Specialalternative as well. Unlike most King Seiko and Lord Matic where they are manufactured by the Suwa Seikosha, the Lord Matic Special line of watches were manufactured by the other internal rival from Seiko – the Daini Seikosha. The 52 series movement bearing the special name regardedas one of the most accurate movementSeiko has ever manufactured.
