Description
Yes, what you’re seeing here is an actual functioning timepiece, but not your typical wristwatch. This is a ‘pin watch,’ designed to be worn on a blazer lapel or shirt! How cool is that? These unique pieces were part of a limited release in the 1990s by Audemars Piguet as part of their ‘Jewelry Collection.’ Crafted from 18K white gold, the watch features 16 diamonds around the signature Oak bezel, with a white ‘petite tapisserie’ dial and a tiny quartz movement ticking inside.
Oh, did we mention this one comes with ‘box and papers’? Yep, this tiny, cute box and that little booklet were how these were sold at the time.
This one was sold in Germany in 1994, the year Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as South Africa’s first Black president, the year Sony released the first PlayStation, and the Winter Olympics were held in Lillehammer. That same year, President Bill Clinton of the United States and President Boris Yeltsin of the Russian Federation negotiated the Kremlin Accords.
Different times indeedAudemars Piguet even had some fun with their products, as proven by this little gem! Naturally, we’ve had a fresh battery installed. If you’re collecting everything from the House of AP, then this is the “Crown Princess” of that collectiona rare find!
